In protest of the Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) administration capturing down plans for an AP African American Studies course, three college students<\/a>\u2014with the assist of civil rights lawyer Ben Crump\u2014are threatening to sue.<\/p>\n

Renowned civil rights lawyer Ben Crump says if Gov. Ron DeSantis doesn’t negotiate with College Board to permit the AP African American Studies course to be taught, he and others will sue. <\/p>\n

News of the matter took place throughout a press convention on Wednesday, and it follows the College Board pledging to revise the course providing.<\/p>\n

Essentially, the state of Florida blocked the course as a result of it was \u201cinexplicably contrary to Florida law.\u201d It was additionally alleged that it \u201csignificantly lacks educational value,\u201d however the College Board introduced that it will revise the course in hopes that it will be deemed acceptable below the DeSantis \u201cStop W.O.K.E. Act,\u201d NBC News<\/em><\/a> stories.<\/p>\n

Now, three college students have introduced that they intend to hunt authorized motion if the state continues to close down the AP African American Studies course.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0ABC News<\/em><\/a>, one of many college students remarked, \u201cI realized that I have not learned much about the history or culture of my people outside of my parents and close relatives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another spoke on how the state was robbing college students of invaluable academic experiences.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are many gaps in American history regarding the African American population. The implementation of an AP African American History class could fill in those gaps.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Similarly, the third pupil proclaimed that DeSantis doesn\u2019t have \u201cthe right to take this opportunity from thousands of students across the state.\u201d<\/p>\n

These younger Floridians even have the assist of Ben Crump, who remarked that they\u2019ll be the \u201clead plaintiffs\u201d if a case is finally filed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf he does not negotiate with the College Board to allow AP African American studies to be taught in classrooms across the state of Florida, that these three young people will be the lead plaintiffs.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He added, \u201cThis is what it\u2019s about\u2014it\u2019s about them, this is what the fight is for. Never, ever forget that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Administration Says It Isn\u2019t Fazed By The Threat<\/h3>\n

Despite this risk,\u00a0Alex Lanfranconi\u2014the communications director for the Florida Department of Education\u2014says he isn\u2019t fearful. In truth, he referred to as the risk \u201cnothing greater than a meritless publicity stunt.<\/p>\n

Regarding the College Board\u2019s determination to revise the course, Lanfranconi famous that the administration is \u201cglad the College Board has recognized that the originally submitted course curriculum is problematic.\u201d<\/p>\n
