Moonflower Murders<\/i> is coming to PBS. The community has partnered with BBC and ordered a sequel to the Magpie Murders<\/i> drama. The Masterpiece<\/em> collection is predicated on the novel by Anthony Horowitz, who will adapt his work for the six-episode collection.<\/p>\n

Timothy McMullan and Lesley Manville will return to their lead roles as well-known literary detective Atticus P\u00fcnd and editor-turned-sleuth Susan Ryeland, respectively.\u00a0 The story follows the pair as they examine the loss of life of a thriller writer.<\/p>\n

PBS<\/a> revealed extra concerning the new collection in a press launch.<\/p>\n

PBS\u2019 MASTERPIECE introduced immediately on the Television Critics Association press tour that it’ll co-produce and broadcast Moonflower Murders<\/a>, a brand new six-part drama based mostly on the bestselling novel written by Anthony Horowitz, CBE. A sequel to the acclaimed 2022 MASTERPIECE adaptation of Horowitz\u2019s Magpie Murders<\/a>, Moonflower Murders is government produced by Jill Green and Eleventh Hour Films and tailored by Horowitz. BBC<\/a> is the UK companion on the collection.<\/p>\n

Anthony Horowitz stated: \u201cI can\u2019t wait to get started on the scripts of Moonflower Murders. We had a fantastic response to Magpie Murders and, speaking personally, it was a joy bringing Susan Ryeland and Atticus P\u00fcnd to life on the screen. There are lots of surprises in the second book, including something I\u2019ve never done before in a murder mystery. It\u2019s going to be great fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Returning within the lead roles they originated in Magpie Murders are Academy Award-nominee Lesley Manville (The Crown, Phantom Thread) as editor turned sleuth Susan Ryeland and Timothy McMullan (Patrick Melrose, The Crown) as well-known literary detective Atticus P\u00fcnd.<\/p>\n

Magpie Murders was a hit with our audience, who loved its clever storytelling of a mystery-within-a-mystery. It\u2019s thrilling to know that Lesley and Tim will be returning to MASTERPIECE in Moonflower Murders.\u201d MASTERPIECE is offered on PBS by GBH Boston.<\/p>\n

More than 5.5 million viewers watched Magpie Murders, and the collection has been streamed over 3.1 million instances. The press had been followers, too, with the Los Angeles Times writing, \u201cIt has everything you want in a British mystery,\u201d and TV Guide dubbing it \u201ca superior brainteaser.\u201d<\/p>\n

Executive Producer Jill Green stated: \u201cWe had the best reviews ever for an Eleventh Hour Films drama, which was hugely satisfying given the creative attention given over to every aspect of the series, by every member of cast and crew. So, it is wonderful to be all returning again with the equally complicated and riveting Moonflower Murders.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moonflower Murders is the second novel in Horowitz\u2019s Susan Ryeland collection. Published in 2020, it was lauded as \u201ca fiendishly plotted crime novel, with a fabulous twist\u201d by the Guardian and picks up the place Magpie Murders left off: Susan has left the cut-throat world of publishing and resides in Crete along with her longtime boyfriend, Andreas. She finally ends up returning to London when she is requested to analyze a thriller referring to Alan Conway, the writer of the best-selling Atticus P\u00fcnd mysteries, whose loss of life modified her life in Magpie Murders.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moonflower Murders can be accessible to stream within the US on PBS.org, PBS Passport and the PBS MASTERPIECE Prime Video Channel. In the UK, the collection can be accessible to stream on iPlayer.<\/p>\n
