NEW YORK: <\/strong>Theatre Communications Group<\/a> (TCG) has introduced the recipients of the primary and second rounds of the 2022-23 Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards.<\/a> The awards whole $725,000 and can permit 17 productions additional time for growth and rehearsal within the hopes of extending the lifetime of the play after its world premiere.<\/p>\n \u201cAs our theatre field continues to navigate the ongoing impacts of the pandemic, the Edgerton Foundation\u2019s visionary investment in new plays continues to make a critical difference,\u201d TCG government director Teresa Eyring stated in an announcement. \u201cThe Foundation\u2019s support of longer rehearsal processes has always been impactful, but now, as our field seeks to welcome back audiences, that support is truly game-changing. Theatres can ensure that new plays receive the resources they need to not only attract audiences in their inaugural productions, but enjoy many subsequent performances at theatres across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n The awards are introduced to the musical Cowboy Bob<\/em>, with music and lyrics by Jeanna Phillips and ebook and extra lyrics by Molly Beach Murphy<\/a>, whose authentic manufacturing will likely be on the Alley Theatre<\/a>, directed and choreographed by Annie Tippe; Here There Are Blueberries<\/em> by Mois\u00e9s Kaufman<\/a> and Amanda Gronich, directed by Kaufman in a co-production with La Jolla Playhouse<\/a> and Tectonic Theater Project;<\/a> Patriots<\/em> by Peter Morgan at Almeida Theatre;<\/a> The Travelers <\/em>by Luis Alfaro at Magic Theatre;<\/a> Exclusion <\/em>by Kenneth Lin at Arena Stage;<\/a> The Motive and the Cue <\/em>by Jack Thorne on the National Theatre;<\/a> Pru Payne <\/em>by Steven Drukman at Arizona Theatre Company;<\/a> shadow\/land <\/em>by Erika Dickerson-Dispenza on the Public Theater;<\/a> Elyria<\/em> by Deepa Purohit on the Atlantic Theater Company;<\/a> Primary Trust <\/em>by Eboni Booth at Roundabout Theatre Company;<\/a> The Far Country <\/em>by Lloyd Suh on the Atlantic; Hamnet <\/em>by Lolita Chakrabarti on the Royal Shakespeare Company;<\/a> Colonialism Is Terrible, But Pho Is Delicious <\/em>by Dustin H. Chinn at Aurora Theatre Company;<\/a> Letters from Max <\/em>by Sarah Ruhl at Signature Theatre Company;<\/a> Laughs In Spanish <\/em>by Alexis Scheer on the Denver Center for the Performing Arts;<\/a> Eternal Life, Part 1 <\/em>by Nathan Alan Davis on the Wilma Theater;<\/a> and Swing State <\/em>by Rebecca Gilman on the Goodman Theatre.<\/a><\/p>\n Over the final 17 years, the Edgerton Foundation has awarded over $15 million to 491 productions, enabling many performs to schedule subsequent productions following their world premieres. The basis\u2019s New Plays Program was piloted in 2006 with Center Theatre Group<\/a> in Los Angeles, and Brad and Louise Edgerton launched this system nationally in 2007.<\/p>\n Theatre Communications Group is the nationwide group for theatre and leads for a simply and thriving theatre ecology.
