\u201cOther People\u2019s Children\u201d has secured U.S. distribution forward of its run at Sundance Film Festival later this month. A press launch introduced that Music Box Films snagged rights to Rebecca Zlotowski\u2019s French-language drama starring Virginie Efira (\u201cBenedetta\u201d) with plans to launch it in theaters and on house leisure platforms this spring.<\/p>\n
Written by Zlotowski, the movie tells the story of Rachel, a 40-something instructor who forges a detailed bond along with her new boyfriend\u2019s four-year-old daughter. Their relationship conjures up Rachel to contemplate having a baby of her personal.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m very much like Rachel. I\u2019m a Parisian woman in my early 40s. The character is a teacher, and I studied to be a teacher at university. I felt this film could be the dream life, maybe the alternative life, of what could have been for me. And, feeling that I could not have a child, I saw the film as a letter to myself, something I needed, both as a director and as a spectator, to help me with my situation. Because I couldn\u2019t find this story anywhere, not in the way I wanted to show it, with tenderness,\u201d Zlotowski beforehand advised The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>. \u201cShowing how you become super attached to a kid that you raise but isn\u2019t yours. To have strong feminist feelings that you can be complete without children, but still feeling the pain. This kind of complexity I couldn\u2019t find anywhere. So I made the film.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cOther People\u2019s Children\u201d screened at Venice Film Festival and Toronto Film Festival.
