Opening up about his mother\u2019s deadly automobile accident, Harry shared that he nonetheless has a ton of questions on what occurred that tragic day in 1997:<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of things that are unexplained. I\u2019ve been asked before whether I want to open up another inquiry. I don\u2019t really see the point at this stage. But I think anyone who knows \u2014 again, this is the most amazing thing that, of over the last, what, five years, especially the last two years, the amount of people that I\u2019ve met here in America, everyone knows where they were and what they were doing the night my mother died. And I never thought about that at all.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Harry even drove by way of the Pont de l\u2019Alma<\/strong> tunnel in Paris, France, and requested to have a look at footage from the accident with a view to higher perceive what transpired that evening of the automobile crash:<\/p>\n\n\u201cI saw the photographs of the reflection of all the paparazzi in the window at the same time. I saw the back of her blonde hair, you know, slumped on the back of the seat.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Some of the extra graphic pictures from the scene weren’t included \u2013 one thing the Better Up<\/strong> CIO mentioned he was \u201cgrateful\u201d for:<\/p>\n\n\u201cBut I was, I think I, at that point, I was looking for, I was looking for, I was looking for evidence that it was after that it actually happened, that it was true,\u201d he mentioned. \u201cBut I was also looking for something to hurt because at that point I was still pretty numb to the whole thing. That was, again, my body, my sort of nervous system just kind of shut down and said like, \u2018Let\u2019s not.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Despite feeling there are such a lot of issues which have been left unanswered, the 38-year-old clarified he didn\u2019t \u201creally see the point\u201d of opening up one other inquiry years after the case.<\/p>\n
Royal Exit<\/h2>\n
The horrific lack of his mom \u2013 and concern for his spouse Meghan Markle<\/strong>\u2019s life \u2013 is a part of the explanation why the couple stepped away from their royal duties and moved out of the UK. Harry defined he \u201ctook myself back to that moment\u201d when he was 12 years previous and his father King Charles III<\/strong> advised him Princess Diana died:<\/p>\n\n\u201cI took myself back to that moment and tried to remember as much as possible. You know, my father coming in, in his dressing gown and sharing that news with me, only now as part of writing the book, that I really think about how many hours he\u2019d been awake. And the compassion that I have for him, as a parent having to sit with that for many, many hours, ringing up friends of his, trying to work out, how the hell do I break this to my two sons.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
He continued:<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI never want to be in that position, part of the reason why we are here now. I never, ever want to be in that position. I don\u2019t want history to repeat itself. I do not want to be a single dad. And I certainly don\u2019t want my children to have a life without a mother or a father.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Prince William & Princess Catherine<\/h2>\n
Elsewhere within the interview, Harry took purpose at Prince William<\/strong> and Princess Catherine<\/strong> AKA Kate Middleton<\/strong>, saying there was \u201ca lot of stereotyping that was happening, that I was guilty of as well, at the beginning\u201d of his relationship with Meghan attributable to her appearing profession:<\/p>\n\n\u201cSome of the things that my brother and sister-in-law\u2014some of the way that they were acting or behaving definitely felt to me as though unfortunately that stereotyping was causing a bit of a barrier to them really sort of, you know, introducing or welcoming her in.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Bradby goes on to ask Harry concerning the relationship between the Prince and Princess of Wales and Meghan, saying:<\/p>\n
\n\u201cBut the impression is that\u2014that they just\u2014there\u2019s almost from the get-go it\u2019s just they don\u2019t get on. Fair?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
When the Archewell<\/strong> founder agreed, he defined there have been \u201clots of different reasons\u201d behind why they don’t get alongside:<\/p>\n\n\u201cI had put a lot of hope in the idea that, you know, it\u2019d be William and Kate and me and whoever. I thought the four of us would bring me and William closer together, we could go out and do work together, which I did a lot as the third wheel to them, which was fun at times but also, I guess slightly awkward at times as well. But, yeah, I don\u2019t think they were ever expecting me to get into a relationship with someone like Meghan who had, you know, a very successful career.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
He continued:<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe fact that I had that in the back of my mind, and some of the things that my brother and sister-in-law, some of the way that they were acting or behaving definitely felt to me as though unfortunately that stereotyping were causing a bit of a barrier to them really sort of introducing or welcoming her in.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
When pressed on what he particularly meant, Harry responded:<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWell, American actress, divorced, biracial, there\u2019s \u2013 there\u2019s all different parts to that. But if you are, like a lot of my family do, if you are reading the press, the British tabloids at the same time as living the life, then there is a tendency where you could actually end up living in the tabloid bubble rather than the actual reality.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
When requested if his older brother tried to cease him from marry Meghan, Harry insisted the 40-year-old \u201cnever did that\u201d:<\/p>\n
\n\u201cNo, he never tried to dissuade me from marrying Megan, but he aired some concerns, very early on and said, you know, this is gonna be really hard for you. And I still to this day, I don\u2019t truly understand which part of what he was talking about. But maybe, you know, maybe he predicted what the British press\u2019s reaction was gonna be.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Beyond the stereotyping, the daddy of two shared that the media pit each Meghan and Catherine towards one another, resulting in a variety of the issues within the relationship:<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe idea of the four of us being together was always a hope for me. Before it was Meghan, whoever it was going to be, I always hoped that the four of us would get on. But very quickly it became Meghan versus Kate. And that, when it plays out so publicly, you can\u2019t hide from that, right? Especially when within my family you have the newspapers laid out pretty much in every single palace and house that is around. It creates this competition, and if you\u2019re the new kids on the block and you come in and you\u2019re stealing the limelight, not a limelight that you\u2019ve asked to be put in or have.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Racism Accusations:<\/h2>\n
Of course, Harry opened up about one of the crucial talked-about moments from his and Meghan\u2019s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey<\/strong> in 2021: the racist remark from one of many relations. As it’s possible you’ll recall, Meghan claimed within the chat that there have been some \u201cconcerns and conversations about how dark [Archie<\/strong>\u2018s] skin might be when he\u2019s born.\u201d The royals quickly confronted backlash for being racist \u2013 and many individuals had been guessing as to who made the problematic remark.<\/p>\nHowever, it appears to be like like Harry is backtracking slightly bit as he denied calling his household racist! When Bradby mentioned \u201cin the Oprah interview you accused members of your family of racism,\u201d the prince rapidly fired again:<\/p>\n
\n\u201cNo. The British press said that, right? Did Meghan ever mention \u2018they\u2019re racists\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
To which Bradby mentioned:<\/p>\n
\n\u201cShe said there were troubling comments about Archie\u2019s skin color. \u2026 Wouldn\u2019t you describe that as essentially racist?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Harry mentioned he wouldn\u2019t name the incident racist, \u201cnot having lived within that family.\u201d He continued:<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe difference between racism and unconscious bias\u2026 the two things are different. Once it\u2019s been acknowledged or pointed out to you as an individual, otherwise an institution, that you have unconscious bias, you, therefore, have an opportunity to learn and grow from that\u2026 otherwise, unconscious bias then moves into the category of racism.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Harry then referenced the racist incident on the palace involving Lady Susan Hussey<\/strong> who requested a racially-charged query to the founding father of the charity Sistah Space<\/strong>, Ngoni Fulani<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\u201cWhat happened to Ngozi Fulani is a very good example of the environment within the institution, and why after our Oprah interview, they said that they were gonna bring in a diversity tsar. That hasn\u2019t happened. Everything they said was gonna happen hasn\u2019t happened. I\u2019ve always been open to wanting to help them understand their part in it, and especially when you are the monarchy, at the\u2014you have a responsibility and quite rightly people hold you to a higher standard than others.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Defending Tell-all Memoir<\/h2>\n
No doubt, Prince Harry\u2019s tell-all memoir is sure to drive the wedge between him and the royal household even deeper. But in line with the royal, the e book was by no means meant to harm anybody:<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI love my father. I love my brother. I love my family. I always do. Nothing of what I\u2019ve done in this book or otherwise has ever been with any intention to harm them or hurt them. The truth is something that I need to rely on. And after many, many years of lies being told about me and my family, there comes a point where, you know, again, going back to the relationship between certain members of the family and the tabloid press, those certain members have decided to get into bed with the devil, right? To rehabilitate their image.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
He continued:<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIf you need to do that, or you want to do that you choose to do that. Well, that is a choice. That\u2019s up to you. But the moment that that rehabilitation comes at the detriment of others, me, other members of my family, then that\u2019s where I draw the line.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
