Thom Bell, the legendary Jamaican-born Philadelphian producer, arranger and songwriter that helped pioneer the Philly soul sound within the Nineteen Seventies, has died on the age of 79. His explanation for dying has not been disclosed.<\/p>\n

Throughout the late \u201960s and early \u201970s, Bell wrote and produced numerous hits, notably with the Delfonics, the Stylistics and the Spinners. Some of his most well-known works embody the Delfonics\u2019 \u2018La-La Means I Love You\u2019, the Stylistics\u2019 \u2018Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart)\u2019 and \u2018You Are Everything\u2019, the Spinners\u2019 \u2018Rubberband Man\u2019 and \u2018Mama Can\u2019t Buy You Love\u2019 by Elton John<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Alongside Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff because the Mighty Three, Bell is credited with co-creating \u201cThe Sound of Philadelphia\u201d. Together, the trio based Philadelphia International Records in 1971.<\/p>\n

As Rolling Stone <\/em><\/a>reviews, each of Bell\u2019s longtime collaborators paid tribute to him in a press assertion. \u201cTommy and I have been best friends for over 60 years,\u201d Gamble mentioned. \u201cLeon Huff and I were proud to have him as part of our Mighty Three music writing team, which helped create our signature brand of TSOP. He was a great talent and my dear friend. The name of Gamble Huff and Bell will last forever. Rest in peace buddy!\u201d<\/p>\n

In his personal assertion, Huff added: \u201cThom Bell was my favorite musician, arranger, songwriter, and music producer of all time. It was my esteemed honor and pleasure to work with him creatively and as a business partner. Rest in peace.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bell was born in Jamaica in 1943, however moved to Philadelphia along with his household as a baby. He performed drums and studied classical piano as a baby, and carried out alongside Gamble of their band the Romeos in his teen years. His first large break got here when he started working as a session participant and arranger for Cameo Records.<\/p>\n

After working with the Delfonics within the late \u201960s \u2013 together with writing and producing the Grammy-winning \u2018Didn\u2019t I (Blow Your Mind This Time)\u2019 \u2013 the early \u201970s noticed him teaming up with songwriter Linda Creed. Bell and Creed wrote and produced a number of hits for the Stylistics, together with \u2018Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart)\u2019, \u2018You Are Everything\u2019, \u2018People Make The World Go Round\u2019, \u2018Betcha By Golly, Wow\u2019, \u2018I\u2019m Stone In Love With You\u2019 and others.<\/p>\n

Hits included \u2018I\u2019ll Be Around\u2019, \u2018Could It Be I\u2019m Falling In Love\u2019, \u2018Games People Play\u2019 and \u2018Rubberband Man\u2019.<\/p>\n

Bell\u2019s different notable works included producing Dionne Warwick<\/a>\u2018s 1975 album \u2018Track Of The Cat\u2019, collaborating with Deniece Williams within the early Nineteen Eighties, and dealing with Elton John on the 1979-released \u2018The Thom Bell Sessions\u2019 EP. That EP featured each \u2018Mama Can\u2019t Buy You Love\u2019 and the Spinners-backed \u2018Are You Ready For Love\u2019.<\/p>\n

Among Bell\u2019s accolades, he gained Producer of the Year on the Grammy Awards in 1975, and in 2017, was honoured by the Recording Academy on the Grammy Salute to Music Legends. In 2006, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
