In the aforementioned article, Clarkson wrote: \u201cAt night, I\u2019m unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, \u2018Shame!\u2019 and throw lumps of excrement at her.\u201d<\/p>\n The description of being paraded by the streets references a well-known scene in Season 5 of Game Of Thrones<\/a> <\/em>wherein the character Cersei Lannister, portrayed by actress Lena Headey,<\/a> is pressured to carry out a \u201cwalk of atonement\u201d and standers-by pelt her with rocks and excrement whereas chanting \u201cshame.\u201d<\/p>\n The column was condemned<\/a> by many, together with London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Clarkson\u2019s personal daughter, Emily, on social media.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat is it about strong, confident women that makes some men so angry they lash out in this way?\u201d one particular person requested on Twitter<\/a>. \u201cVile remarks like this are never OK, are not dark humour or banter. They are sick and disgusting and should never have been printed in a paper. Shame on him.\u201d<\/p>\n In the wake of the backlash, Clarkson went to Twitter to apologize. \u201cOh dear.
