Gabrielle Kazuko Nomura Gainor<\/a>\u2019s duet with Truong Nguyen gives particular moments of each traditions. This piece is a dramatic, juicy drama that will hopefully be as fun to watch as it is to perform. But we, the two dancers you see onstage, are also speaking to people like us: Asian women, femmes, and queer folks. The title of the piece (in the beginning, woman was the sun<\/em>) is also the title of a historic feminist text from Japan.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\u2018We\u2019d prefer to make a contact with you\u2019\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\nDiana Cardiff will revamp her piece Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft<\/em> that premiered at Ten Tiny Dances in 2015. In this humorous solo carried out on a 4\u2019 by 4\u2019 platform, Cardiff dons a tinfoil helmet and brandishes a lightsaber\u00a0<\/p>\n\u201cSpace 50<\/em> is a love letter dedicated to my dad, Ed Cardiff. It is through his eyes and mind that I developed\u00a0 my appreciation for the beauty of science and the universe. \u201cPersonified by seven different dancers in red turtlenecks, Carl Sagan takes an opportunity to jam out to one of his \u2018favorite\u2019 songs that didn\u2019t make it on the \u2018Golden Record.\u2019 Since the first time I watched the movie Apollo 13<\/em>, <\/em>I\u2019ve been a big fan of outer-space. But more than that, I am happy that I continue to create things. It is a miracle that this culture, which doesn\u2019t intrinsically value art, hasn\u2019t killed my dreaming self.\u201d<\/p>\n
