Their Showmance<\/em> podcast was placed on hiatus after Naya Rivera\u2019s<\/strong> tragic demise<\/a> in 2020. When it got here to returning to the podcast platform, Kevin admitted that it wasn\u2019t a right away choice. \u201cIt was sort of iHeart speaking up and then us being like, \u2018What does this look like if we do it again? Do we want to? Is it going to be too hard, honestly, to watch the show again?’\u201d he stated.<\/p>\nThe actor stated the iHeartRadio crew made him and Jenna really feel \u201creally safe and protected.\u201d He added, \u201cI feel like that made us excited to do this again, do it in a different, more thoughtful way I think, and really service the fans I think in a way that they deserve to get an unfiltered view of our perspective of our experience.\u201d<\/p>\n
The cultural local weather of 2022 is very<\/em> totally different than it was in 2009<\/a>. However, Jenna and Kevin aren\u2019t daunted by addressing issues about Glee<\/em> that don\u2019t work in at this time\u2019s world.<\/p>\n\u201cIt\u2019s actually a sign of the times and the progression we\u2019ve made. I think it\u2019s actually a good thing if there are clear things that don\u2019t work anymore and to be able to point them out and talk about that,\u201d Jenna advised HollywoodLife<\/strong>. \u201cEven on another hit show like Friends<\/em>, things don\u2019t age well. It\u2019s just things don\u2019t work. I actually think it\u2019s a really good thing. I think we\u2019re going to definitely lean into stuff like that because there\u2019s no reason to shy away from it. It\u2019s okay if things aren\u2019t as great as they used to be. It\u2019s fine,\u201d he stated. \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s a bad thing to be able to call out and be truthful about something that happened. It\u2019s a snapshot of the era and where we were.\u201d<\/p>\n
The co-stars revisited the pilot episode with creator Ryan Murphy<\/strong><\/a> within the first episode of their new podcast. HollywoodLife<\/strong> requested the duo if something within the pilot obtained altered earlier than it went to air.<\/p>\n\u201cI do believe, and I think I can say this, \u2018Leaving on a Jet Plane\u2019 was supposed to be a different song,\u201d Jenna stated. \u201cIt didn\u2019t clear or something, so it switched very quickly to \u2018Leaving on a Jet Plane,\u2019 which Matt [Morrison]<\/strong> sang. I can\u2019t imagine it being anything else at this point. Obviously, Ryan talked about that musical number of Mr. Schu and when he was in high school doing that number, which was a bit polarizing, and they took it out. We also shot a musical number. We did one from A Chorus Line<\/em> and that was in it as well. And then reshooting the \u2018being a part of something special makes you special\u2019 scene as well when Lea [Michele]<\/strong><\/a> is not in that yellow costume anymore because it just wasn\u2019t reading right. That scene hits so hard and it\u2019s so iconic, so I\u2019m really glad that Ryan had the wherewithal to see that.\u201d<\/p>\nDiscovery+ shall be releasing a Glee<\/em> docuseries that may dive into the highs and lows of the hit collection. When requested in the event that they\u2019ll handle the docuseries when it comes out, Kevin stated, \u201cWe\u2019re not a part of it.\u201d Jenna adopted with, \u201cI don\u2019t know who is a part of it\u2026 There\u2019s nobody we know that\u2019s a part of it at least. That says a lot, I think, already. I don\u2019t know. I mean, we\u2019ll just have to see when it comes out, to be honest. Like what kind of rises to the top because, as I\u2019ve said before, you just have to look at your sources. You have to look at who\u2019s making things and whose experiences you\u2019re looking at.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
