And he said, \u2018Darren Aronofsky.\u2019 He said, \u2018Go watch Requiem for a Dream<\/em>.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAt 11 or 12?\u201d Aronofsky interrupts. \u201cGet away from that director as quick as you can.\u201d<\/p>\n The harrowing drug habit drama is a tough look ahead to anybody of any age, however Butler was transfixed. \u201cIt became my favorite film,\u201d he says. \u201cHighly inappropriate as a youngster, but I remember watching it, going, \u2018Wow, I didn\u2019t realize you could do this. How inventive and visceral. As the years went on, then I dug into every one of his films and always wanted to work with him.
