The president and Pope Francis have clashed a number of instances since Trump\u2019s first bid for the White House almost a decade in the past.<\/p>\n

In 2016, the pope criticized<\/a> Trump\u2019s proposal to construct a wall on the US-Mexico border, telling reporters on the time that, \u201ca person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian.\u201d Trump shortly fired again, saying, \u201cFor a religious leader to question a person\u2019s faith is disgraceful.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf and when the Vatican is attacked by ISIS, which as everyone knows is ISIS\u2019s ultimate trophy, I can promise you that the Pope would have only wished and prayed that Donald Trump would have been President,\u201d he stated in a press release.<\/p>\n

Then, when the pair met throughout a 2017 journey to the Vatican, the president claimed that they had a \u201cfantastic meeting.\u201d This interplay gave rise to the viral photograph<\/a> of Trump and Francis standing subsequent to one another with very completely different expressions.<\/p>\n

Fast ahead to Trump\u2019s second presidency, and the pope once more made a uncommon rebuke of the United States\u2019 management. In a public letter from February to Catholic bishops within the United States, Francis described this system of mass deportations as a \u201cmajor crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deporting migrants who typically come from troublesome conditions, Francis wrote, violates the \u201cdignity of many men and women, and of entire families,\u201d including that he had \u201cfollowed closely the major crisis that is taking place in the United States with the initiation of a program of mass deportations,\u201d and believes that any coverage constructed on drive \u201cbegins badly and will end badly.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
