\n\tDespite his time writing on Saturday Night Live<\/a><\/em>, Michael Schur<\/a> wasn\u2019t a fan of 1 sketch parodying his work.<\/p>\n \n\tAfter leaving the NBC<\/a> sketch comedy present to jot down for The Office<\/a><\/em> in 2005, he stated the SNL<\/em> sketch \u2018The Japanese Office\u2019 \u201cdidn\u2019t feel right to me in some way\u201d when Steve Carell<\/a> and Ricky Gervais<\/a> appeared within the May 17, 2008 episode.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI worked at SNL<\/em>, but you still feel like SNL<\/em> at some point at some level is an arbiter of what matters in the culture,\u201d Schur stated on The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast<\/a><\/em>. \u201cAnd when [Carell] did \u2018The Japanese Office\u2019, I remember being a little bit rankled.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe sketch was launched by Gervais, who created and starred within the unique BBC sequence that impressed The Office<\/em>. He jokingly defined that the British model of The Office<\/em> was based mostly on a Japanese present, enjoying a digital brief with Carell as a Japanese model of his character Michael Scott, main a wholly Japanese-language episode with no subtitles.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIt\u2019s like, \u2018They stole the show from me, but I stole it from the Japanese version,\u2019 but then all the actors in the Japanese version are white people,\u201d defined Schur. \u201cIt sort of didn\u2019t track to me somehow.\u201d<\/p>\n
