Travel guru Rick Steves <\/a>is getting candid about his expertise with prostate most cancers.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n Steves, 69, mirrored on the illness, sharing that it has imbued him with \u201can awareness of what you might regret when you’re wrapping up your life,\u201d in the course of the Dec. 14 episode of The New York Times\u2019 <\/em>podcast The Interview<\/a><\/em>, hosted by David Marchese and Lulu Garcia-Navarro.\n<\/p>\n \u201cThere’s regrets,\u201d admitted the Rick Steves’ Europe<\/em> star, who was identified with most cancers in August<\/a>. \u201c[A career in travel] has not been good for my family. I got divorced. It’s not been great for relationships with loved ones.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \u201cI would love to be the person I was before I was a travel writer,\u201d he continued. \u201cI would have had a very, very beautiful life being a piano teacher, coming home every night for dinner and mowing the lawn, and joining clubs, and, you know, being regular and reliable. But I’ve chosen a different path, and this is a path that is \u2014 it’s a mission for me.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \u201cI’ve calculated it,\u201d he defined. \u201cAnd I’ve got an opportunity to be what I consider extremely productive …\u00a0 helping people travel in a constructive way. And I choose that knowing it’s not gonna be without a cost. Yeah, I’m aware of that. And I’m in a way, I’m sad about it. I don’t speak the language. I don’t know exactly where it’s going. I’m not in control of the itinerary,\u201d he stated.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n \u201cAnd it’s interesting to me. It hasn’t gotten me down. I’m kind of having \u2014 not fun \u2014 but I’m having a learning experience,\u201d he added. \u201cI didn’t really wanna be an expert on incontinence, but I’m gonna get through it.\u201d\n<\/p>\n The journey author shared that he strives to remain open and sincere about what he\u2019s going by means of, revealing that his August social media<\/a> submit through which he revealed his diagnoses was the \u201cmost commented on and shared posts I’ve ever had on Facebook.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \u201cAnd it was a very, very positive thing,\u201d he added. \u201cI’ve always thought it’s important not to keep these things secret, to be embarrassed about anything.\u201d\n<\/p>\n Steves additionally revealed that rising up with a mom who had despair motivated him to share private well being updates with followers.\n<\/p>\n
