Patrick Mahomes<\/strong><\/a> reacted to his teammate Harrison Butker<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s controversial graduation speech throughout a latest press convention. While chatting with reporters on Wednesday, May 22, the 28-year-old Kansas City Chiefs quarterback defended Harrison, 28, as a \u201cgood person.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve known him for seven years. I judge him by the character he shows every single day, and that\u2019s a good person,\u201d Patrick mentioned on the Chiefs\u2019 OTAs follow that day. \u201cThat\u2019s someone who cares about the people around him, cares about his family and wants to make a good impact in society.\u201d<\/p>\n

Patrick added that he\u2019s solely \u201cgonna judge [Harrison] by the character that he shows every single day\u201d and famous, \u201cWe\u2019ll continue to move on and try to help build each other up to make ourselves better every single day.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut, at the end of the day, we\u2019re gonna come together as a team, and I think that will help out as well as eliminate those distractions outside the building,\u201d the athlete defined earlier than stating that he doesn\u2019t \u201cagree\u201d with every little thing that Harrison mentioned. \u201cWhen you\u2019re in the locker room, there\u2019s a lot of people from a lot of different areas of life, and they have a lot of different views on everything. We\u2019re not always going to agree, and there\u2019s certain things that he said that I don\u2019t agree with, but I understand the person [who] he is and [that] he\u2019s trying to do whatever he can to lead people in the right direction.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though Patrick doesn\u2019t share the \u201csame values\u201d as Harrison, the QB identified that a number of the social media movies of his teammate\u2019s speech have been \u201ctaken out of context.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the end of the day, it\u2019s about us taking the man and his values and everything that he does every single day and judging him by that, not by one moment or one speech,\u201d Patrick concluded. \u201cIn the building, you can have those healthy discussions and still be friends even if you don\u2019t agree [on] the exact same things.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Harrison delivered a controversial graduation handle at Benedictine College, wherein he derided the LGBTQIA+ group and mentioned the \u201cmajority\u201d of the feminine college students have been \u201cmost excited about [their] marriage and the children [they] will bring into this world.\u201d Additionally, he slammed a few of President Joe Biden<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s policies and women\u2019s family-planning selections.<\/p>\n

The speech sparked in depth backlash<\/a> towards Harrison, which has continued for a number of weeks throughout social media.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
