Lionsgate\u2019s Miller\u2019s Girl<\/em> sparked main controversy when it was launched earlier this yr for its sexual scenes between an 18-year-old feminine character and an older trainer. Now, actor Martin Freeman<\/strong> is reacting to the backlash that the movie acquired over its eroticism and his age hole with co-star Jenna Ortega<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

While talking with The Times<\/em><\/a> in a current interview, Martin, 52, described his and Jenna\u2019s film as \u201cgrown-up and nuanced.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not saying, \u2018Isn\u2019t this great?’\u201d he stated, referring to the plot. Calling the backlash \u201ca shame,\u201d the English actor went on to ask, \u201cAre we gonna have a go at Liam Neeson<\/strong><\/a> for being in a film about the Holocaust?\u201d Martin was referring to the 1993 film Schindler\u2019s List<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Per the synopsis of Miller\u2019s Girl<\/em>, Jenna\u2019s 18-year-old scholar character, Cairo, \u201cembarks on a creative odyssey when her teacher assigns a project that entangles them both in an increasingly complex web. As lines blur and their lives intertwine, professor and prot\u00e9g\u00e9 must confront their darkest selves while straining to preserve their individual sense of purpose and the things they hold most dear.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although the Wednesday<\/em><\/a> collection star, 21, has not overtly mentioned her erotic scenes with Martin, the movie\u2019s intimacy coordinator, Kristina Arjona, spoke with Daily Mail<\/em><\/a> shortly after the film premiered.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was many, many people throughout this process, engaging with [Jenna] to make sure that it was consistent with what she was comfortable with, and she was very determined and very sure of what she wanted to do,\u201d Kristina defined to the outlet in February, including that forged members \u201calso have the option on the day to change their mind if they don\u2019t want to do any of the elements that we\u2019ve discussed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The coordinator acknowledged that \u201cpart of [her] job is supporting [Jenna\u2019s] decisions\u201d and likewise identified that, with an age distinction such because the one featured in Miller\u2019s Girl,<\/em> the purpose for Kristina was to make sure each actors had been snug.<\/p>\n

\u201cI adapt to whatever is the comfort level of my actors, especially on a production like this where there is a large age gap between the actors,\u201d Kristina famous. \u201c\u2018I\u2019m hyper aware of both of my talent and making sure that we\u2019re consistently checking in and that at no point are any of their boundaries being surpassed. And again, making sure \u2014 especially with someone who\u2019s significantly younger \u2014 that they are giving continuous consent.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
