\n\tThe American French Film Festival<\/a> (TAFFF<\/a>), which was pressured to cancel its 2023 version as a result of Hollywood strikes, has unveiled its 2024 dates.<\/p>\n \n\tThe Franco-American Cultural Fund (FACF), which oversees the occasion (previously generally known as Colcoa), stated the competition would return to the Directors Guild Of America Theater from October 29 to November 3.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIt is with great excitement that we can look forward to hosting The American French Film Festival this year,\u201d stated C\u00e9cile Rap-Veber, President of the Franco-American Cultural Fund and CEO of companion physique Sacem.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201c2023 was a very challenging year for the film and television business because of the strikes, but now we can move forward and celebrate the talent and films that this festival showcases every year.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe occasion, which is billed as the biggest competition dedicated to French cinema going down within the U.S., was create in 1996.<\/p>\n \n\tOver the years, it has earned the repute for being a launchpad for French movies, filmmakers and actors in America. <\/p>\n \n\tIn 2022, movies like Final Cut<\/em> (Kino Lorber), A Family For 1640 Days<\/em> (Distrib Films US) and The Super 8 Years <\/em>(Kino Lorber) have been picked up for distribution after screening on the competition, whereas 43 filmmakers had their movies\u2019 US, worldwide or world premieres on the version. \u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tFive-time Oscar nominated movie\u00a0Anatomy of a Fall\u00a0<\/em>was among the many 23 different movies, 10 sequence, 4 TV motion pictures, and 17 brief movies chosen for the 2023 program previous to its cancellation. <\/p>\n \n\t\u201cTAFFF has become an increasingly important international event for French filmmakers and talent to gain exposure in the Hollywood film community,\u201d notes Fran\u00e7ois Truffart, Executive Producer and Programmer, TAFFF.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cBy providing opportunities for international sales companies and US distributors \u2013 including digital platforms \u2013 to convene and screen French-language films and series before the start of the Awards Season is pivotal to their overall sales and marketing strategies.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tTAFFF may also proceed its instructional program which gives 3,000 highschool college students with the chance to attend a screening and dialogue with filmmakers on the DGA Theater.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cAt a time when everyone is on their phones and in-person interactions are declining, The American French Film Festival Education Program inspires students to truly engage,\u201d stated Anouchka van Riel, Deputy Director of TAFFF. <\/p>\n \n\t\u201cThrough our screenings and Q&As with French actors and filmmakers at the DGA Theater, as well as the in-class materials we develop with educators, this effective annual program continues to encourage thoughtful discussion and nurture a new generation of French film enthusiasts.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe American French Film Festival was created and is produced by the Franco-American Cultural Fund, a collaboration between the Directors Guild of America (DGA), the Motion Picture Association (MPA), France\u2019s Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers of Music (SACEM) and the Writers Guild of America West (WGAW). <\/p>\n \n\tThe occasion can also be supported by Unifrance, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, France\u2019s Society of Authors, Directors and Producers (l\u2019ARP), Air Tahiti Nui, ELMA, Champagne Fleur de Miraval, L\u2019Or\u00e9al, TV5 Monde, and Variety.
