Nerene Virgin<\/a>, a Canadian youngsters\u2019s entertainer most beloved for her position as Jodie on the Eighties TV sequence Today\u2019s Special<\/em>, has died on the age of 77.<\/p>\n

The Hamilton-born actor died on Jan. 15 at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington, Ont., in keeping with an obituary posted Thursday.<\/p>\n

Virgin\u2019s tv profession continued on within the late Eighties and early \u201990s, when she went on to host and broadcast on CTV and later, on CBC.<\/p>\n

She hosted Eye on Toronto<\/em>, a present affairs present, and later made a foray into politics when she ran for the federal Liberal Party within the mid-2000s.<\/p>\n

The great-granddaughter of escaped slave Thomas John Howard, Virgin performed a task in integrating Black historical past into the Hamilton faculty curriculum.<\/p>\n
