Their first two sequence, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/radical\/\" id=\"auto-tag_radical\" data-tag=\"radical\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Radical<\/a> <\/em>and <em>Cop City,<\/em> are targeted on tales from Atlanta, GA, and intersect social justice, true crime and journalism.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tInvestigative documentary podcast<em> Radical,<\/em> distributed by iHeartPodcasts, premieres December 5. It tells the story of Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin, a Muslim chief who was convicted of taking pictures two sheriff\u2019s deputies \u2014 one fatally \u2014in 2000, exterior a mosque in certainly one of Atlanta\u2019s oldest neighborhoods. Prior to changing to Islam, Al-Amin was generally known as the Black Power activist H. Rap Brown, and was some of the polarizing figures of the motion, gaining a repute as a charismatic orator and passionate revolutionary. H. Rap Brown was an honorary officer within the Black Panther Party, and like his friends, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King JR., and Stokely Carmichael, was a goal of the FBI\u2019s COINTELPRO surveillance program.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe trial for the shootings came about simply months after the September 11 assaults \u2014 a time of unprecedented anti-Muslim fervor within the United States \u2014 and Jamil Al-Amin was convicted of homicide and sentenced to life in jail. However, the proof proved shaky and Al-Amin, who stays in jail, has maintained his innocence. By 2020, a \u201cconviction integrity unit\u201d started to reexamine the case.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<em>Radical <\/em>is hosted by Mosi Secret, a former reporter for <em>The New York Times <\/em>and <em>ProPublica <\/em>who<em> <\/em>grew up in Atlanta\u2019s African-American Muslim group.
