Jada Pinkett Smith<\/a> has revealed what occurred between her and Chris Rock<\/a> instantly after her husband, Will Smith<\/a>, slapped him throughout the face throughout the 2022 Oscars ceremony<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The incident has been known as \u201cthe slap heard around the world,\u201d after Rock made a G.I. Jane<\/em> joke about Pinkett Smith, who suffers from alopecia and suffers hair loss. Smith took problem with the joke and walked onto the Oscars stage from his front-row seat and open-palm slapped Rock throughout the face.<\/p>\n

Smith returned to his seat and shouted for Rock to \u201cKeep my wife\u2019s name out of your f\u2013-ing mouth!\u201d<\/p>\n

In an interview with Hoda Kotb of NBC\u2019s Today<\/em> present<\/a>, set to air in its entirety Friday evening, Pinkett Smith stated that she and Rock had a quick dialog instantly after the slap whereas snippets for the most effective documentary nominees had been being proven.<\/p>\n

\u201cChris looks to me and he says, \u2018Jada, I meant no harm,’\u201d she remembers. \u201cI\u2019m just out of it because I\u2019m really worried about Will. And Will\u2019s still talking. Now he\u2019s mad because Chris is talking to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I go, \u2018Chris, this is about some old s\u2013t.\u2019 That\u2019s all I could think of saying, right? And I couldn\u2019t really take in his apology.\u201d<\/p>\n

As of this writing, Rock has not publicly commented on or corroborated Pinkett Smith\u2019s claims. Neither has Smith.<\/p>\n

According to Pinkett Smith, she and Rock have a protracted historical past collectively. The Matrix Reloaded<\/em> actor stated in an interview with People<\/a> this week that Rock requested her out on a date whereas rumours had been swirling that her and Smith had been headed for divorce.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think every summer, all the reports would come out that me and Will were getting a divorce. And this particular summer, Chris, he thought that we were getting a divorce,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo he called me and basically he was like, \u2018I\u2019d love to take you out.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018What do you mean?\u2019 He was like, \u2018Well, aren\u2019t you and Will getting a divorce?\u2019 I was like, \u2018No. Chris, those are just rumors.\u2019 He was appalled. And he profusely apologized, and that was that.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for Smith\u2019s motivations on Oscar evening in 2022, he defined in an interview that came about shortly after the jaw-dropping ceremony that there have been \u201cmany nuances and complexities<\/a>\u201d as to why he slapped Rock.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut at the end of the day, I just \u2014 I lost it.\u201d<\/p>\n
