Halle Bailey<\/strong> says she was delivered to tears<\/a> upon seeing younger Black women\u2019 reactions to her position as Ariel within the live-action remake of \u201cThe Little Mermaid.\u201d<\/p>\n In a current interview<\/a> with Glamour<\/em>, Halle opened up about seeing the response movies to the movie\u2019s prolonged trailer.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I saw those for the first time, I just cried,\u201d she advised the journal. \u201cI was sobbing uncontrollably. The fact that these babies are looking at me and feeling the emotions that they\u2019re feeling is a really humbling, beautiful thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n She stated of the trailer\u2019s early reception:<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I watch the babies react and they\u2019re proud of me and they\u2019re happy with how [the movie] looks, I\u2019m just so happy with that reaction. It almost heals something within me and my spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n <\/p>\n Halle advised the outlet that as kids, she and her sister Chl\u00f6e idolized Beyonce<\/strong> and Destiny\u2019s Child<\/strong>. But there wasn\u2019t sufficient illustration in movie and tv mirroring the sisters, she stated.<\/p>\n The 2009 Disney animated movie The Princess and the Frog <\/em>did it for Halle, particularly Black actress and singer Anika Noni Rose<\/strong> as Tiana.<\/p>\n \u201cI know how much of that movie changed my whole perspective on life,\u201d she says. \u201cWow, this is possible. Black princesses are possible.
